Write for us

Bright News Journal welcomes thoughtful pitches about plants, animals, weather, seasonal change and the art of noticing. Send proposals through the Contact page; a concise, specific idea is more useful than a finished article sent without context.

What we welcome

We look for clear explanations, distinctive observations and useful ways to understand familiar natural details. A pitch might compare two ways of noticing a change, explain why a visible pattern occurs, or trace the background of a nature-watching habit. Subjects should suit a general reader and remain useful beyond a passing news moment.

Make the pitch specific

Tell us the central question, the main point a reader will take away and why the subject suits Bright News Journal. Include a short outline and any relevant experience or sources you expect to draw on. Be clear about what you have personally observed and what would need further checking.

Responsible boundaries

We do not seek alarmist claims, unsupported identification or advice that could put people or wildlife at risk. Avoid pitches that require hazardous handling, specialist intervention or a reader to rely on informal guidance instead of appropriate local expertise. Proposals are sent through the Contact page.
